Well my first official make from One Thimble Issue 12 is one I’ve been eagerly anticipating, so without further ado…. This post contains affiliate links, but all opinions are my own.
It’s the #111 dress (*affiliate link) designed by Thread Faction which I shortened about four inches to make a most adorable top! This is the size 5 and Bean’s chest is a bit on the small side for 5, but I went for it in the hope that this will also fit next spring and love the fit anyway.
You know how much I adore Thread Faction Studio (check out this post here), right? Well I signed up to sew her #111 dress just from looking at the sketch alone. I didn’t even realize it was her pattern and STILL I was drawn to it. I love the shape and it’s a perfect little knit dress that can be whipped up in no time.
The back has a very slight racerback which is lovely. No closures is even more lovely, hehe. Of course this purple striped fabric from JoAnn is a pain to work with as it’s super heavy (double knit) and extra stretchy without great recovery so you’ll see some sagging here and there. Never you mind though. My girl saw that fabric and HAD to have it so I used it anyway. I’ve used most of the colorways of this fabric and each time I say it’s a pain to work with and won’t use it again, but then I succumb to the cuteness of those stripes on one side and polka dots on the other. Sigh.
The butterfly fabric on the other hand, is a really great Lizzy House fabric that I scored from Imagine Gnats (*affiliate link) and loved working with. Keep your eyes peeled for a great back to school look that I’ll share soon with the green colorway of the same fabric. It’s so dreamy. Let’s just pretend that the gathers in the front are as nice as the back, while I promise to never work with those JoAnn stripes again (yeah right).
