I’m thrilled to be a part of Handmade Boy‘s Boys Can Wear Pink Tour this year and even better it gave me the gentle nudge I’ve needed to make a little something for my husband!
My husband likes to think he’s a tough guy, but when it comes to our daughter he’s a total softy. They have a Daddy/Daughter dance coming up later this month and I thought it’d be the perfect time to sew something for him to go along with Bean’s dress. The theme for the Daddy/Daughter dance is Glow in the Dark which is why I used all the neon and white fabrics. They are going to shine, shine, shine under those blacklights haha!
My original thought for the photoshoot was to have them together to get some great pics of the tie AND the dress, but my after-church plans died out when Bean came home with a fever. So this pic from last week of the back of her dress will have to do for now, but you can see the fabrics match the tie. The good news is that the Raglan Party Dress – originaly designed for One Thimble – is available now in the Designs by Call Ajaire shop and will be discounted 20% this week (no coupon needed)! This pic is also a sneak peek of the article I wrote for One Thimble Issue 14 which is releasing later this week.
The tie pattern can be found FREE on Craftsy (affiliate link) and I was super impressed with how easy it was to make. Mine came out shorter and slightly more narrow since I was trying to use up the rest of the pennant fabric which meant I had to alter the pattern to fit it on the bias. But if you used the fabric requirements in the pattern you’d be totally fine.
This pic might be my favorite of the bunch. This was his “are you done taking pics yet? You do realize it’s 20 degrees out right?” face, hehe. But really, he is such a good sport. You don’t see his face around here very often, but this guy’s the main reason all of this is possible. A big thank you to him and also to Kelly for having us on the tour! Enter the rafflecopter for a chance to win some fantastic prizes, and don’t forget to check out the rest of the tour!

I love these matching outfits and your husband is such a good sport!
Ajaire
Thanks Meghan! It was so cold out and the lighting was awful, but he managed to hold up until I got a few decent pics heheh.
Emily
How fun! I will have to check out that pattern.
Ajaire
It’s such an easy pattern Emily! Highly recommend it!
Kelly
Love that his tie matches her dress! How perfect!!! Tell him THANK YOU from me also for playing along!! Thanks, Ajaire!!!!!
Ajaire
Thanks for having us! I love the series and was so excited when I realized I could make something for it for my husband 🙂

I absolutely love that you included your hubby in this tour! Bennett isn’t opposed to pink on other people…he’s just such an earth tone that I hardly ever see him out of navy/forest green/buffalo plaids, haha. I’m loud and he’s not. It works.
The tie is so fun. And I love that he’s matching your little for a Daddy/Daughter dance! SO sweet!
Ajaire
Well I don’t have any other boys so…. haha. But seriously he gets so neglected in the me-made dept so I was thrilled to find something to make for him! My goal is to make more for him this year and this super simple tie pattern was the perfect intro.
Lindsay
Both the tie and the dress are stunning! I bet they had fun at the dance!
Ajaire
Thanks Lindsay! They are both so excited to go. I can’t wait to hear about it 😉
Gemia
That is wonderful!
Ajaire
Thank you Gemia! It was such a simple sew that has already brought so much joy 🙂
Karly Nelson
That tie is amazing! I absolutely love it! And so sweet that he was matching Lena!

They are going to be too cute together at the dance 🙂
