You guys, I’ve been dying to share with you what I’ve been working on for this year’s swim pattern and today’s Suit Up For Summer Tour is the perfect place to give you some sneak peaks! Sewing swimwear is one of my all time favorites and once you get on the swimwear train it’s hard to get off. You’re going to LOVE this tour because it’s filled with a great mix of bloggers who are well versed in sewing these type of patterns and bloggers who are swimwear newbies. There’s a prize competition, link up, and later in this post a tester call (yay!), but first let me show you what I’ve been working on…
Meet the Sash Swimsuit! This fun swimsuit has one shoulder, full coverage, opportunity for colorblocking, and of course the lovely sash flounce that splits the suit in half. This pattern will come in sizes nb through 12 years and will have the same fantastic fit of my Classic Maillot pattern that released last summer.
Bean is already a big fan of this pattern. This is the main view with a one shouldered maillot shape. There is the option of having the spaghetti strap on the opposite shoulder like this one has, but we have a few that have been made without the strap and everything stays in place just fine so it’s truly optional. I just think it’s adorable so I add it to hers.
There are also two different tankini options as well as a top flounce option with a solid body….. and a sleeve! So this suit will make a great leotard as well. If you’d like to sign up to help test this pattern please fill out the form here. The rest of you keep your eyes peeled for an early to mid-June release along with lots more swimwear posts!
One of my favorite things about sewing swimwear is the fun fabrics you can find nowadays. This striped pineapple fabric (*affiliate link) and coral solid fabric (*affiliate link) are both from Peekaboo Patterns’ Fabric Shop and I LOVE them. The fabrics are hefty and you can tell will really hold up to the stresses of a summer filled with chlorine and sun. You can see the nice drape of the coral in the flounce and another nice thing about these UV-50+ solids is the front is the same as the back so it works really well for an unlined flounce. Amy from Peekaboo sent me these fabrics to blog about, but to be honest I had already purchased some from her last swimsuit run – these fun watermelons (*affiliate link) that I’ll be posting about soon – so you know I stand by my words. These are great swim fabrics!
So now that we’ve had the tester call, talked about the different views this pattern will have, and mentioned the fun fabrics I used, we can talk about the rest of this awesome tour! You should visit Paisley Roots and Sew Sophie Lynn for details about the tour, the link ups, and how to win the amazing prize packages.
