Have you guys seen the new Bespoke Briefs pattern just released by Thread Faction Studio? It’s the perfect ladies’ mid rise briefs pattern and I was excited to get my hands on it before it was released.
I’m always happy to try out a Thread Faction Studio pattern, cause I know the sizing will be great and that the pattern is well tested, so I jumped at the chance to sew up a couple of briefs for the Bespoke Briefs tour. Since I am pregnant I thought I’d make a couple of super soft and comfy briefs to wear postpartum so I chose to use the bands option for the waist and leg openings. There are three other finishing options (lingerie elastic, and two FOE elastic methods), but I thought using the soft cotton lycra solids in my stash would be so comfy for those days following delivery. I chose size XL based on my current (pregnant) lower hip measurement for this same reason and I am thrilled to report that the bands are so soft that these briefs actually feel quite nice, even now seated just below my 28 week belly.
The back coverage is great and paired with a large crotch area, there is no tugging or pulling with the Bespoke Briefs. The fabric stays just where it’s meant to which seriously ups the comfort game.
And one of my favorite parts of this great pattern is that in lieu of side seams, the back piece wraps toward the front. This allows for some fun scrap busting since the front piece ends up being significantly smaller than the back. It’s hard to tell in the above pic cause I used the same fabric for all the pieces, but I can definitely see where these style lines would be great for a more delicate pair of briefs. You’ll have to check out the rest of the blogs on the Bespoke Briefs tour and especially the post on Thread Faction Studio’s blog to see some really nice pairs of underwear the other ladies made. I can’t wait to sew a pair with some stretch lace and lingerie elastic next.
