You guys!! It’s been such a crazy time in our lives and I really can’t believe I haven’t written a blog post in just under year. I have some fun things coming up in the next few months that I can’t wait to show you, but in the meantime from new house to new baby – it’s time to catch up with what’s been going on around here.
First of all (and most importantly) this sweet girl entered our lives. I love this picture of Bean meeting her baby sister for the first time. We didn’t know if the baby would be a girl or a boy so it was such a fun and special moment when she found out she had a sister. When I asked Bean what her blog nickname should be she thought the name Kitty would be nice so that’s what we’ll call her.
She is pretty much the EASIEST baby and a true delight. She was born in November and I wasn’t sure what to think about a winter newborn (the rest of us are all May babies in our house), but she was a trooper and we made it through the flu season without incident! She even tagged along to school events for Bean, though she was held close to me in her wrap away from those elementary school germs, yikes.
Bean has been a terrific big sister and I honestly can’t imagine having a newborn without a seven and a half year old around to help out. She really is so good with her and a big help to me.
And I definitely needed the help this spring, because on top of a having a brand new baby we decided to move! This was a local move at just two miles down the road, but after living in our old house for nine years it was a huge undertaking just getting everything all packed up. We adore our new home and property (2.75ish acres!!), but wow that move was hard.
Kitty pretty much hung out in the swing or exersaucer for the month of July while we got our things packed up and moved to the new house. She was so good and I don’t think we could have done it all if she was a fussy baby. We’re so fortunate that she has a calm temperament!
These. Two. They are so different in personality already, but get along very well. Kitty seems to like her personal space and Bean is CONSTANTLY invading it, but otherwise they’re kindred. And it’s pretty crazy just how much Kitty looks like Bean when she was her age. Genetics!
I’ll close with before pics of the new sewing studio. I can’t even believe this gets to be my space. In the old house I had a HUGE studio so it was hard to complain, but it was in the basement and there was NO natural light. My husband has already installed the new flooring and it looks amazing! I’ll share pics of the studio later this season once it’s complete.
This room is on the main floor AND has a giant bank of windows on one side with a large sliding glass door on the other so it’s certainly not lacking for natural light. I’m excited about being right on the main floor so I can duck into the studio throughout the day, instead of having to plan out my time away from everyone down in the basement.
I have so many plans for Designs by Call Ajaire that have been put on hold for far too long, so even with a baby in the house I’m determined to get back at it. I hope you’ve enjoyed this catch up post and that you’re as excited as we are about what the future holds.
