Today I’ll be sharing some of the pieces that Bean wore during our Watercolor Beach “backyard beach” photo shoot and I’m happy to report that it is all tween approved. That’s no easy feat these days, so we’re calling this a big win.
The first of the two outfits paired her Chromium Cropped Hoodie with The Wolf & Tree’s Abby’s Marigold Pants. I’ll post about the hoodie in a separate post since that’s one of the patterns I contributed and I want share lots of details, but I have to say these pants were a huge hit.
The Abby’s Marigold Pants come in sizes 3m to 14 and I made a size 8 for Bean. There are three lengths: pants, capris, or a long short and they have a super comfy straight-legged shape. Two other cool features are the optional side ruffles and tie band and I ended up using both for these pants.
I thought for sure this tween would have a big no thank you ready for those side ruffles, but shockingly she thought they were super cool and insisted I use them for the look. I think they add some fun flare so I was all too happy to oblige.
Even with the side ruffles and ties, these pants were the fastest sew of the entire collection. They are a really quick sew and so rewarding. I used this super soft double brushed poly from Raspberry Creek Fabrics and Bean is loving it.
The next piece that she paired with the Chromium Cropped Hoodie is the Bodhi Boardskirt from Bubby and Me Creations. This skirt is designed for boardshort fabric or peachskin, but could be sewn out of any woven fabric. I used the super soft aqua boardshort fabric from Knitfabric.com who helped sponsor this collection.
I sewed a size 9 for Bean and it’s a little big on her, but still fits well enough to wear. Plus, this tween approved skirt will last another whole season for us which is a huge plus. The cargo pocket at the side seam adds some beachy style and gives her a place to hold the treasures she finds on the beach…. or in the yard haha.
Have you grabbed this capsule collection for yourself yet? The individual patterns are still on sale for the release week prices so consider the Bodhi Boardskirt and Abby’s Marigold Pants now before you miss out on the sale!
